Hog Roast Dundalk Took Part In A Fundraising Event For Ukraine

Shaken by the crisis that is going on in Ukraine right now and desperate to help out in any way possible, the team over at Norbrook Laboratories recently decided to host a massive fundraising event at their headquarters in Newry. And with so many people (800, to be exact) eager to take part in the money-raising function, it was decided that the event was to be split over two days; these were the 12th and 13th of April.

As the pharmaceutical company’s director of human resources, the responsibility of planning this large-scale event fell into the hands of Denise, who had approached Hog Roast Dundalk in the lead up to the charity function to organise catering for everyone who was to attend.

After speaking with our catering manager, Nathan, at great length, Denise felt confident that our Classic Hog Roast Menu would be perfect for the occasion. And so, on both days of the fundraiser, our team loaded up our van with huge full-size pigs, dozens of gluten-free rolls, our state-of-the-art cooking equipment and plenty of ingredients for the vegan option.

Hog Roast Dundalk Once they arrived on site, the Hog Roast Dundalk team immediately launched themselves into preparing the feast. This involved lifting the pigs onto the HogMaster machines, where they were scored, rubbed in salt and doused in water before being left to slow-cook on top of a batch of our homemade savoury sage and onion stuffing.

While the pigs sizzled and spat their way to perfection, Nathan and the team turned their focus to the vegan alternative of pulled jackfruit, which they slow-simmered in a smoky hickory sauce before serving on rolls with vegan coleslaw.

It might have taken getting up at the crack of dawn on both days and cooking all morning for the Hog Roast Dundalk crew, but the gorgeous golden pigs, which were irresistibly juicy on the inside and flawlessly crisp on the outside, were well worth the effort, and the guests were blown away by the tasty lunchtime treat! After donating whatever they could to the Ukraine crisis, the guests happily tucked into a delicious roll of our beautifully-cooked pork or jackfruit.
